Scottsbluff Star-Herald on Jan. 19: OpenSky: Epic Tax would leave state budget in $8.8 billion deficit

An Open Sky Policy Institute forum dove into the finer details of the proposed EPIC tax Wednesday.

Open Sky Policy Institute Executive Director Rebecca Firestone gave a presentation on the EPIC Tax Option. While Twin Cities Development hosted the event, Executive Director Jordan Diedrich said TCD has no policy stance on the issue and simply wanted people to be informed.

Supporters of the EPIC Tax Option are currently circulating petitions to place an initiative for state tax reform on the ballot in the 2024 general election.

The EPIC Tax Option would eliminate all Nebraska property, income/inheritance and corporate taxes, replacing the state’s current tax structure with a consumption, or sales tax.
