In our ongoing webinar series, OpenSky is exploring the intersection of public policy and racial and ethnic equity in Nebraska. The third webinar, which is set for tomorrow at 10 a.m., will focus on why adopting policies that enable all Nebraskans to access their full creative and economic potential can improve the state’s workforce, increase productivity and improve the overall health of Nebraska, its residents and its economy.
This week’s panel discussion will feature:
- Scott Moore, Senior Vice President-Corporate Relations and Chief Administrative Officer at Union Pacific, providing a business perspective on why it’s important for Nebraska to increase equity;
- Dr. John Hakonson, Superintendent of Lexington Public Schools, discussing how his district works to serve its diverse student body and the benefits these efforts bring to the students and the community;
- Garry Clark, President and CEO of the Greater Fremont Development Council, talking about the importance of working to increase equity in rural communities; and
- Miguel Estevez, a licensed mental health practitioner at Friendship House in Grand Island, providing an on-the-ground perspective about the need to address equity in health care, and particularly mental health care.
