Gov. Jim Pillen announced line-item budget vetoes on Wednesday that outlined more than $140 million in proposed spending reductions over the next two years.

In its report, the Nebraska Examiner noted objections from OpenSky Policy Institute and others.

“On the eve of the Legislature voting on tax cuts that will primarily benefit the wealthy and out-of-state corporations, Gov. Jim Pillen targeted kids and vulnerable Nebraskans with line-item budget vetoes,” said Dr. Rebecca Firestone, executive director of OpenSky.
