Nebraska lawmakers advanced a key piece of Gov. Jim Pillen’s tax $3.3 billion tax relief package past first-round debate Thursday on a 41-0 vote.

LB 754, as amended, would reduce the two individual and business income tax brackets to 3.99 % by the year 2027.

It would speed up the elimination of state taxes on social security benefits by a year to 2024.
