Kearney Hub on Feb 11: Corporate Nebraska — profit trends or pink slips?
By RICK BROWN | Kearney View
MEMO TO ALL CITIZEN-EMPLOYEES OF NEBRASKA: It’s time to listen to businessman Gov. Pete Ricketts’ idea and embrace a new way of running this state. So, henceforth, Nebraska state government will conduct business as usual, not as an arm of the people with the best interests of the masses in mind, but under the model of a highly successful restaurant or convenience store.
That’s right, Nebraska now will operate like a business. Let’s toss out the old and give birth to the new.
The governor has hired Felix Davidson, formerly of TD Ameritrade, as chief operating officer. It’s about time. I speak for the majority of the citizen-employees when I say I’m sick of seeing slackers and layabouts getting equal treatment with us productive types who actually do the work around here. Pat yourself on the back if you’re one of us. If not, well, pack your bags.
