Today, OpenSky Policy Institute turns 10-years-old — a milestone that we as an organization plan to recognize and celebrate in a variety of ways in the coming months.
Over the past decade, my husband Dick and I have had the great privilege of watching this amazing group grow from multiple vantage points.
As a founding board member and the second board president, Dick played a hands-on role in helping OpenSky make its rapid ascension toward becoming an essential voice in Nebraska’s policy debates.
At this same time, I was serving as a state lawmaker. As a legislator, I saw firsthand how OpenSky’s work helped move our policy debates away from political talking points and toward conversations based on facts and data. Nebraskans have benefitted from this development in ways that are hard to enumerate.
Today, I am the one with the privilege of serving as OpenSky’s board president. It has been a joy to see OpenSky develop its stellar reputation and grow into the go-to organization for people looking to craft sound fiscal policy. Thanks to the efforts of an amazing board and staff, OpenSky is the most trusted source of fiscal policy analysis in the state and it is an honor to serve with such incredible people who care so much about our state and its future.
Dick and I are very proud of what OpenSky has been able to accomplish in its first 10 years and we want to congratulate all who have played a role in helping the organization become what it is today. This first decade has been incredible and we’re very excited to see what the future holds for this outstanding team!
