Video of Jan. 13 tax symposium now online
The videos below are from our Jan. 13 tax policy symposium, which featured a panel discussion with participants in the Nebraska School Finance Review Commission. The videos also feature an overview of Nebraska’s tax and budget scenario by OpenSky’s Renee Fry and comments by Sen. Al Davis about some school finance bills he has proposed.
In the late 1980s, the School Finance Review Commission worked to help Nebraska lessen its reliance on property taxes to fund K-12 and to help create our school funding system.
As we again find ourselves with some of the same issues we did before the commission formed, Sen. Davis has proposed LB 323, which would reconstitute the commission. An Education Committee hearing on LB 323 will be held Tuesday starting at 1:30 p.m. in the State Capitol, Room 1525.
