After a while, it’s hard to defend something on the grounds that we’ve done it this way for years.
Times change. Priorities change. Needs arise. What worked before doesn’t work anymore.
Nebraska’s state tax system is a case in point. The last time any major changes were made to it, Lyndon Johnson was in the White House, Bob Devaney was Nebraska’s football coach and a gallon of gas cost a quarter.
In other words, it’s been a while.
